The ATM Cave tour is probably one of the coolest things I've ever done. We were able to swim and climb through beautiful rock formations while in the presence of some of the oldest Mayan pottery and remains to be discovered completely undisturbed. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take pictures so I borrowed some from online. We were actually inches away from skeletons, skulls, and pottery dating back to earlier than 700 AD. Cameras were understandably banned after a tourist accidentally dropped a camera on a skull that was over 1000 years old. Aside from it's rich history the cave is home to a number of bats, crickets, and crabs that we got to witness as we waded through crystal clear water.. It was eerie to be at several sites where sacrifices had evidently taken place. Our guide even had us travel in the dark for a little while to get a true feel of what the Mayans called Xibalba or the underworld. On our trek back through the jungle was intensified by a Fer-De-Lance spotting!
