We tabled in the center of town promoting health awareness by measuring heart rate and blood pressure. We also handed out condoms, toothpaste, and pamphlets about health issues such as HIV/AIDS, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, and teen pregnancy.
After a break for lunch we visited the beautiful San Ignacio Hotel and took a medicine trail tour. We learned about many natural herbal remedies. I had the interesting experience of sampling some live termites and actually enjoyed their flavor. The tour ended in an encounter with over 60 green iguanas. They are home to the Iguana Conservation Project and were suprisingly friendly. Several of us got to hold them and even had several of them climbing on us!
